The owners of Chiko, a popular, Washington, D.C. Chinese-Korean eatery influenced by the creations of chef Danny Lee and support of co-owners Scott Drewno and also Drew Kim, from Matchbox pedigree, are set to open a West Coast location in the Greater San Diego Area, Calif. The tweet today confirmed that the new Chiko restaurant will open November 14 at 4 p.m. in Encinitas, a beach-centric town 25 miles north of San Diego on the eve of a new Chiko restaurant opening in Dupont Circle. Chiko is also a Best New Restaurant of the Year RAMMYS-award winner.
According to Eater San Diego, Drew Kim will relocate to Encintas, site of the new location to oversee operations there. Similar to the first DC location, the Encinitas restaurant will open a reservations-only counter service with a tasting menu feature, and has plans for a Chiko After Dark event series, similar to what was run here in October, according to the food blog.

Good luck to the Chiko team as they expand their popular, ever-delicious concept to Encinitas! The Fried Rice Collective, the restaurant group behind Chiko, will also open Anju at the old Manu restaurant space in D.C. in early 2019, according to Washingtonian.
