Moxy Hotels expands in Southeast U.S.

Atlanta, Louisville, Nashville Moxys are slated for 2019

Moxy Hotel Washington, D.C. Downtown isn’t the only boutique Millennial-centric property that Marriott is using to win over next-gen travelers in the Southeast. With a rising collection of Moxys around the country, Marriott is planning a few more of these chique hotels for 2019, expanding the Moxy concept’s presence south of the nation’s capital. Moxy Atlanta Midtown, Moxy Nashville Vanderbilt, Moxy Downtown Nashville and Moxy Louisville are all expected to open this year. Since 2014, when it opened Moxy Milan, and 2016 with the U.S. debut in the form of Moxy New Orleans, Marriott has been building a portfolio of Moxy Hotels, reflecting its vision of the fun and playful destination for Millennials.

“We threw out the hotel rulebook in order to create hotel experiences that will bring out the local flavor and energy of the cities they are in with thoughtful touches and bold programming,” said Vicki Poulos, senior global brands director, Moxy Hotels, in an announcement.

Popular features, like tech-enabled rooms featuring motion sensor lighting; internet TV in-room, selfie photo booth elevators, Moxy Digital Guestbook, and 24/7 self-service food & beverage are winning guests over. The Internet TV provides access to Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Pandora and Crackle. Marriott is emphasizing bold looks, and and an energetic environment. NOW public space and smart, flexible bedrooms are providing work and social spaces that cater to both work travel and quick getaways with friends or family.

Imagined and designed by Celano Design Studio, Moxy Chattanooga Downtown, in Chattanooga’s vibrant Southside is one of the latest addition to Marriott’s Moxy collection. The four-story, 108-room hotel was developed by 3H Group.

Moxy Atlanta Midtown opens this month. The 155-room property is located in a busy business district in a lively music and arts zone and was developed by Noble Investment Group. Moxy Atlanta takes up an entire district block, located close to The Woodruff Arts Center (High Museum, Alliance Theatre, Symphony Hall), Museum of Design Atlanta, The Fox Theatre and Savannah College of Art & Design. The hotel features eclectic local artwork sourced by Soho Myriad Art Consulting, including a striking “Welcome Home” mural by artist Greg Mike. Moxy Atlanta Midtown is dual branded with AC Hotel Atlanta Midtown, also opening in January.

Moxy Nashville Vanderbilt at Hillsboro Village will open in Spring 2019. The property is designed by Manuel Zeitlin Architects and Bounds and Gillespie Architects. It features 130 hotel rooms, 47 residences and a 200-car garage. Set in a former streetcar suburb of Nashville, Moxy Nashville is a six-story property with ground floor and retail, and located just a few blocks from Vanderbilt University, Belmont University and Music Row. Also, Moxy Nashville Downtown on Nashville’s storied Lower Broadway will open May 2019.

In a foodie-centric town, known for its horse races and southern charm, it’s only fitting that Moxy Louisville plays up to the social beat with a rooftop bar, known as Bitter’s End, serving up whiskey-inspired small plates, hand-crafted drinks and bourbon, of course. Slated to debut November 2019, the 110-room Moxie Louisville hotel was designed by HKS, Inc. and FlickMars, and developed by White Lodging, Poe Companies and REI Real Estate Services. With a food-truck-inspired “Zombie Taco” concept that has a walk-up window for take out and Bar Moxy, the energetic space is catering to local foodies.

Guests will enjoy the convenience of the Moxy Louisville Whiskey Row location in Downtown Louisville and the proximity to the KFC Yum! Center.
