For Five Coffee arrives in D.C. this fall

For Five Coffee to emerge at two Carr buildings, 2000 L Street

For Five Coffee arrives in the Washington, D.C. region this fall through a partnership with Carr Properties. For Five Coffee will open In October at King I, which is located at 1800 Diagonal Road in Alexandria, Va. In November, a second D.C.-area location will emerge in Arlington at 2311 Wilson Boulevard. Both properties are part of the Carr Properties portfolio.

Born out of roasting facility in Queens, N.Y. in 2011, For Five’s specialty coffee program is integrated in its Queens heritage. Executive Chef Scheyla Acosta creates dining options that are ideal for this type of casual atmosphere. For Five will lure guests in for breakfast and lunch with several food options. Eat-in and takeout selections include sandwiches and salads that complement its coffee.

“We are excited to bring For Five Coffee to our buildings,” said Oliver Carr, CEO of Carr Properties, in a news release. “Carr Properties is committed to fostering a strong sense of hospitality in the workplace through best-in-class amenities, and this partnership will allow us to continue to offer our customers quality food and beverage options.”

With Mid-Atlantic.-born coffee houses that have a loyal following, D.C. has emerged as a competitive coffee-house market. Compass Coffee, Vigilante Coffee and La Colombe are just some of the area’s favorites. Carr Properties has billed the upcoming For Five Coffee shops as part of the amenities for office tenants.

Starting this fall, an additional For Five Coffee shop will operate at 2000 L Street Northwest, D.C. at Alexander Court. The coffee-house chain already operates shops in New York and Los Angeles, according to its online profile.

Stefanos Vouvoudakis and Tom Tsiplakos founded the specialty coffee chain. They now have plans to expand the concept in New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Virginia, Boston, Chicago, and Athens. With international expansion on the horizon, Boston is another domestic market opening this year. For Five Coffee’s founders will unveil a store at Carr’s 200 State Street in Boston’s Financial District.

Carr Properties operates additional properties in the Ballston-Clarendon-Courthouse corridor in Arlington. Next fall, Carr will complete a 12-story office building at 2025 Clarendon Boulevard. With its wedge accents, the glass, trophy office building is expected to change the skyline in the Courthouse neighborhood.
