Now, eat your cookie dough, too: Toll House Edible version arrives

Mid-Atlantic shoppers may have tougher search for the indulgence, initially

Now, you can have your cookie dough and eat it, too. Nestle Toll House released a new, Edible Cookie Dough version without eggs or any other ingredients that need cooking. The new formulation is a “safe and convenient way” to enjoy cookie dough as is, said Christyna Chandler, Nestle Toll House associate brand manager, in a news release. Any risks in eating the original, raw product may come as a surprise to folks who have been doing so for years.

Although there have been edible cookie dough formulations on the market, this is the Nestle Toll House version, an iconic iteration that many generations grew up with. The Toll House Edible Cookie Dough comes in classic Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Monster Cookie varieties. Both are made with real butter and 100-percent real chocolate, says the company. Also, the product contains no preservatives, artificial colors or artificial flavors.

You’ll find the Nestle Toll House Edible Cookie Dough next to the original cookie dough. Publix, Meijer, select Walmart stores and regional grocery chains will start carrying the indulgent product in July. Edible Cookie Dough retails for $5.49 for a 15-ounce tub, but outside the Southeast, it may be hard to locate. Pushing Walmart to carry it may be the best bet.
