Eateries join festivities on 2019 Nationals Championship Parade weekend

Nats fans to line drive crowd size in franchise’s first championship as Nationals

Washington, D.C. is readying a celebration like no other for the Washington Nationals baseball team. The World Series Champions pulled a come-from-behind win Wednesday night to beat the Houston Astros 6-2. Now, the District of Columbia is hosting a parade, starting at 2 p.m Saturday, November 2. The 2019 Nationals Championship Parade is expected to draw huge crows and the City is asking fans to use public transportation.

The route starts at Constitution Avenue Northwest at 15th Street Northwest. The parade will make its way along Constitution Avenue Northwest. The parade ends at Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest at Third Street.

Parade attendees can text NATS to 888-777 to get additional information, including text alerts on safety, transit, and weather updates from the District about the parade. The City is also providing more information on sportscapital.dc.gov, according to its emailed announcement. Fans will use the hashtag #FightFinished to share posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media channels.

D.C. restaurants join fans in celebrating

Carmine’s

Restaurants along the route are joining in on the celebration by offering specials and to-go food. An example is Carmine’s, located at 425 7th Street Northwest. The iconic restaurant will provide outside seating for on-the-go fans and sell water, sodas, coffee, and Italian sandwich box lunches.

Carmine’s will also offer the Nationals Cooler drink: Bourbon, lemonade and cranberry at a Nats-special price of $7. Additionally, the restaurant plans to offer its Happy Hour bar menu all day Saturday. Guests can enjoy watching the festivities all across the bar and restaurant on big screen televisions.

Astro Doughnuts and Fried Chicken

Other eateries are simply joining in the Nats spirit. Astro Doughnuts and Fried Chicken’s D.C. shop is selling the vanilla doughnut with raspberry glaze and a white chocolate design that resembles a “W” on a baseball. And diving into baby shark madness, Astro includes a baby shark topper in the middle of the doughnut hole.

These creative, special treats will sweeten parade day and the weekend for $3.95 each. According to Astro’s announcement, customers can pick up Nats-themed doughnuts at the 1308 G Street location through Sunday. What’s more, only a limited number of these doughnuts, adorned with baby sharks, are available for walk-ins, so order ahead if possible.

Bourbon Steak DC

Bourbon Steak joins in the fun with the Curly W cocktail. It’s a riff on an Orange Crush, according to its publicist, and features a Grapefruit garnish. More poignant is the fact that proceeds from each Curly W will be donated to benefit the Nationals Dream Foundation. It’s an organization created to improve the lives of children and teens in Washington, D.C.

Buffalo & Bergen, Last Call Bar

At Buffalo & Bergen, a Corbin Crush cocktail is a nod to the dugout. Crafted by Gina Chersevani, owner and Mixtress, this is not the type of drink one has before attempting a home run. Stoli Citrus, lemon, pomegranate, and soda combine in the Corbin Crush to produce a real zinger.

At Last Call Bar—also owned by Chersevani—Howie’s Hurricane serves up Don Q White Rum, Black Heart Duck Rum, passionfruit, strawberry, basil, and lemon.
