District Wharf hosts holiday-themed celebrations along D.C. Waterfront

District Holiday Boat Parade part of planned festivities

In the weeks ahead, the District Wharf is hosting at least two events that pack a lot of fun. The District Holiday Boat Parade and Shop the Square Holiday Market are two holiday-themed celebrations that are just around the corner.

Saturday, December 7 – District Holiday Boat Parade

The District Holiday Boat Parade welcomes decorated boats arriving on the Washington Channel Saturday, December 7. The popular evening has become an all-family affair. Santa doesn’t even miss this one. He’ll be at the lighted Christmas Tree in this now annual tradition.

In addition to the annual District Holiday Boat Parade night, there’s also ice skating available on the Wharf. At 6 p.m., the Waterfront Beer and Wine Garden will open and guests can enjoy s’mores and music, as well. At 7 p.m., the boats arrive on the channel and 8 p.m., the District Wharf will hold a Fireworks Salute. Live music will continue on the District Pier Stage through 9 p.m.

Saturday, December 14 – Shop the Square Holiday Market

District Wharf will be converting the District Square into a winter wonderland for the Shop the Square Holiday Market. The event is held from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and transforms the District Square into a unique shopping experience. Merchants will be offering a selection of gifts while a holiday pop-up market will spotlight local D.C.-area artisans and vendors. Enjoy hot chocolate and live music throughout the night. What’s best is that admission is free.

Check out the District Wharf Events website for additional information on the events and planning your trip.
