RAMMYS 2020 nominations season begins in Washington, D.C.

RAMW announces start of nominations, change to eligibility requirement

The RAMMYS, which is the local, Metro-Washington, D.C. restaurant awards ceremony for best-in-class is fast-approaching. The RAMMY Awards spotlight and reward the restaurant industry’s best restaurants, chefs, artisans, entrepreneurs and professionals in the D.C. area. This year’s RAMMYS – the 38th annual event – has opened nominations in 20 different categories. The nominations season will run through February 20 and the 2020 RAMMYS is scheduled for Sunday, July 26.

Organized by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) and hosted by Events DC, the city’s premier entertainment and sports authority. In addition, restaurants nominated for restaurant-specific categories will have an important change to embrace: The eligibility requirement will be reduced from two year to one year. This requirement eligibility is as of December 31, 2019. RAMW noted the change came to pass as a result of a judges panel’s request.

One can submit a nomination by visiting the RAMMYS nominations portal at www.therammys.org through February 20, 2020 at 11.59 p.m. RAMW noted that only its members are eligible to become finalists. However, in today’s hyper-competitive environment, it’s a no-brainer for restaurants to become members and receive support from the area’s premier advocacy and training organization.

RAMW’s Executive Committee will select two additional award nominees. The Joan Hisaoka Associate Member of the Year Award is presented to an allied member who “best exemplifies commitment to and support of RAMW.” The Duke Zeibert Capital Achievement Award honors dedication and leadership in a member who has helped transform D.C.’s restaurant scene into today’s “vibrant restaurant industry.”
